  • Adverse Event — A negative consequence of patient care. The term is commonly used to describe an unexpected, inappropriate, or inconvenient medical occurrence in a clinical investigation.
  • Atomic Event — As the phrase implies a singular indivisible event, one or more of which triggers one or more Episodes of Care.
  • Event — Specific medical occurrence, such as an episode of illness.
  • Potentially Preventable ER Visits — An aggregate or indexed future outcome for Preventable ER Visits that is used to calculate value.
  • Potentially Preventable Surgeries — An aggregate or indexed future outcome for Preventable Surgeries that is used to calculate value.
